What is Medical Acupuncture?

Medical acupuncture is a modern approach to acupuncture based on scientific principles. It uses ultra fine needles to stimulate and regulate the body’s natural processes.  It is a precise technique stimulating nerves, muscles, and joints. The therapeutic purpose is to regulate abnormal activity of the nervous system, muscular system, and other associated systems in the body. The benefits of acupuncture include pain relief, increased energy, as well as a sense of overall well-being.

How is it performed?

Medical acupuncture uses extremely fine needles and is performed by highly trained healthcare practitioners. The needles are inserted into specific anatomical locations in order to stimulate nerves, muscles, and joints.

People experience acupuncture differently. A slight sensation when the needle is inserted may be felt, but it is not generally considered painful. Once the needles are in place, nothing is typically felt. Some people find acupuncture to be very relaxing.

At our clinic, we only use sterile, disposable needles that are only used once and then disposed of.
